What is it?
Reflexology is a safe, holistic, therapy which stimulates the body’s own natural healing energies. It works through precise massage of reflex points on the feet and hands.
The therapy works on the principle that these reflex points correspond to every organ and all parts in the body. By having the whole body represented on the feet and hands in this way, reflexology offers a means of treating not only the whole body but also the body as a whole. This allows both the symptoms and the causes of the symptoms to be treated. During a treatment, as the therapist stimulates reflex points on the feet, circulation and elimination is improved, and the body is encouraged to heal itself often counteracting a lifetime of misuse.
Reflexology is now widely recognised in the West as an established branch of Complementary Medicine

There are few contra-indications for the use of Reflexology. In the unusual event that treatment was not considered appropriate I would advise you during the initial consultation.
A typical treatment:
A full consultation is undertaken on the first appointment, in order to get a picture of the client’s general health, medical history and lifestyle. Subsequent treatments allow for a shortened consultation.
The client will be then be asked to remove their shoes and socks and either sit in a reclining reflexology chair or lie on a couch. Relaxation techniques will be combined with a special thumb and finger walking technique to stimulate each of the reflexes on your feet. The treatment is not usually painful, however, there may be sensitivity or discomfort in some places - this discomfort is usually fleeting and tends to be an indication of some congestion or an imbalance in the body.
The effects of the treatments are cumulative and therefore a course of treatments is usually recommended.
Please note - Under the Association of Reflexologists’ code of ethics and practice, I cannot diagnose, nor claim to cure. A session with me is not a substitute for consulting a doctor. If your symptoms persist or cause you concern you must seek medical guidance.
